Private Dustin L. Bean [imported from Myspace]

Dustin called this morning. Except I didn't realize it was him until I ignored it the second time. All I saw on my cell phone was some random number and didn't notice that it said 'Georgia' above the number. I'm such a doofus. So after trying twice on my cell with no success he called my house and got me.
The good news is that he's alive.
The bad news is that he starts AIT the day after he graduates from Basic Training.
I guess I could be positive about it... at least he'll be getting it over with. It's only 6 weeks anyhow, as opposed to about 11 at Basic.

Just checked my calender and the day that Dustin said he'd be done with AIT is only 5 weeks after his BCT graduation. I hope he really does get out that early. That would rock =]
BTW, he said he's done April 25th, so another important date.

Let me catch you up on his letters. His last one consisted mostly of this:
"On Wednesday we started our first field training exercise. Well, that night we were put into an alcove. The entire company was packed in and they showed us some training aids like star clusters and then they threw a smoke grenade. Well they also threw a canister of CS gas and when the gas reached the alcove everyone panicked! They started running. Well I was the 3rd row in so everyone behind me started pushing. Well I got knocked over and stepped on. I crawled out of the gas, I stood up and passed out, hit my chin on the gravel and woke up to someone screaming 'Man down'. Well I went to the hospital that night they stitched up my chin and said my jaw was broken so I went back to the field that night and finished the field training exercise then went and got my jaw wired shut. It really hurts but my drill sergeants are proud because I went two days on a broken jaw and didn't complain."

More to come later of course, but now I'm gonna write a different blog. Kbye.
